Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Description and Operation
The evaporative (EVAP) emission canister is an emission control device containing activated charcoal granules. The EVAP emission canister is used to
store fuel vapors from the fuel tank. Once certain conditions are met, the powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM) activates the
EVAP emission canister purge solenoid, allowing the fuel vapors to be drawn into the engine cylinders and burned.
