Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS): Service and Repair
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the Automatic Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor (A/T VSS) electrical connector.
3. Remove the A/T VSS stud (61).
Notice: Be sure to pull the A/T VSS straight out of the transaxle case to prevent damage to the case bore.
4. Pull the A/T VSS (62) straight out of the transaxle case.
5. Remove the O-ring (63) from the A/T VSS (62).
Installation Procedure
1. Inspect the A/T VSS for damage. Clean and dry the A/T VSS. Install the O-ring (63) on the A/T VSS (62).
2. Install the A/T VSS (62) in the transaxle case.
3. Install the A/T VSS stud (61).
Tighten
Tighten the A/T VSS stud (61) to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
4. Connect the A/T VSS electrical connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
