Thermostat: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cables, then remove drive belt as outlined in "Belt Replacement" under "Serpentine Drive Belt."
2. Drain cooling system below level of thermostat, then remove radiator hose and clamp from thermostat housing.
3. Remove check valve hose and clamp at thermostat housing, then position alternator and brackets as necessary to access thermostat housing bolts.
4. Remove thermostat housing bolts, housing, thermostat, seals and lifting bracket.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten bolts to specifications.
