Throttle Body Replacement
Throttle Body Removal
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, before removing fuel injection components.
2. Remove the air cleaner from the throttle body.
3. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the accelerator cable, throttle valve cable (automatic transmission), and speed control cable (if equipped) from the throttle body.
6. Remove the throttle body mounting nuts, the throttle body, and the gasket. Clean the throttle body, the intake plenum, and remove all old gasket
material
INSTALLATION
1. Using a new gasket, install the throttle body to the intake plenum, with the four mounting bolts, and a new gasket. Torque the mounting nuts to 11
Nm (96 in-lbs).
2. Connect all vacuum hoses to the throttle body, SEE Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Diagrams/Vacuum and Vapor
Hose for locations.
3. Connect the TPS and IAC motor electrical connectors.
4. Attach the accelerator cable, throttle valve cable (automatic transmission), and speed control cable (if equipped) to the throttle body.
5. Connect the battery negative terminal.
6. Install the air cleaner.
