Fuel Level Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal
Flex Fuel Level Sensor
FLEX FUEL LEVEL SENSOR
1. Remove fuel pump module, See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Tank/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Fuel Tank -
Installation.
NOTE: Mark the position of the fuel level sensor on the fuel pump module housing prior to removing. The correct position of the wires are
critical to proper operation of the fuel level sensor. Mark the position of the wire prior to removing.
2. Use a terminal removal tool and remove negative electrical wire (3) from fuel level sensor.
3. Remove positive electrical wire (4) from fuel level sensor.
4. Remove fuel level sensor retaining tabs (1) from fuel pump module housing (2).

The main fuel level sensor located on the fuel pump module is not serviceable for both front wheel drive (FWD) and all wheel drive (AWD) vehicles.
Only the main fuel level sensor for the flex fuel vehicle (FFV) is serviceable. The secondary fuel level sensor for the AWD vehicles is serviceable.
