Front Door Latch: Adjustments
Door Latch & Rods
SERVICE INFORMATION
If the door outside handle lever does not move the latch-release lever correctly via the inter-connecting rod, adjustment could be necessary. In
addition, if either the latch or the door outside handle has been removed/installed, adjustment also could be necessary. Use the following
procedure to adjust the effective distance between the handle lever and the latch-release lever.
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
1. If applicable, raise the window glass to the completely closed position.
2. If applicable, remove the door trim/access panel and the waterdam from the door inner panel.
3. Insert a 4-mm (5/32-in) hex-wrench through the adjustment slot and into the latch-release lever adjustment screw head. Loosen the adjustment
screw.
4. Depress and release the door outside handle latch-release button several times to eliminate any restriction caused by mis-alignment of the
handle-to-latch rod.
5. Push upward on the latch-release lever via the door panel access opening and eliminate all lever movement.
6. Tighten the adjustment screw with 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) torque.
7. Test the door handle latch-release button for correct operation and re-adjust the latch-release lever, if necessary.
8. Install the door waterdam and the trim/access panel.
