Ball Stud: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Remove hub bearing and axle shaft as outlined under "Axle Shaft, Replace," then remove tie rod or drag link end from steering knuckle arm.
2. Remove ABS sensor wire and bracket from knuckle, then remove cotter pin from upper ball stud nut and nuts from upper and lower ball studs.
3. Loosen steering knuckle with a brass hammer, then remove from axle tube yokes.
