Beginning with the 1987 model year two vendors, Prince and T.R.W., are used to supply the electronic compass/thermometer modules in the overhead
consoles. Both systems function essentially the same, with minor differences in calibration procedures and diagnostics. The specific applications are:

It is important that the procedures outlined in this bulletin be followed BEFORE ANY of the compass or temperature components are replaced. Failure
to do so may result in the unnecessary replacement of parts and customer dissatisfaction.
General Information
NOTE:
THE INFORMATION IN THIS BULLETIN IS FOR THE 1987 OVERHEAD CONSOLE ONLY. PROCEDURES FOR PREVIOUS
MODELS ARE OUTLINED IN THE APPROPRIATE OPERATOR'S MANUAL.
The Compass and Temperature Display Module is mounted in the overhead console. This module displays the current vehicle heading (direction) and
the current outside temperature. When the ignition is "On", the temperature display can be selected to read in either degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius.
