1984-87 MINI-VANS/WAGONS

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove lower steering column cover and wiring cover.
2. Disconnect speed control switch electrical from instrument panel harness.
3. On models equipped with with tilt column, remove insulator terminals using tool No. C-4135.
4. On all models, remove wiper control knob from end of turn signal lever, then the silencer.
5. Remove speed control switch to column attaching screws.
6. On models equipped with tilt column, remove steering wheel, then attach a flexible guide wire to lower end of speed control switch harness.
7. On models equipped with standard column, remove upper steering column lock housing cover attaching screws and the cover.
8. On all models, remove switch and harness from column using care to avoid damaging wires. On models equipped with tilt column, pull wires

through lock housing between lock plate and side of housing, then remove guide wire.

9. Reverse procedure to install. On models equipped with standard steering column, insert harness connector through turn signal lever

opening in column, then pull down and out lower end. On models equipped with tilt steering column, insert harness wires through turn
signal lever opening in column, then pull upward through upper housing.
