Washing the engine compartment of a vehicle equipped with a 3.0L engine may cause water to enter into the throttle cable. The water can eventually
freeze and hinder the return of the throttle system to an idle position.
Therefore, the following actions are required:
^
All new car prep, body shop and service personnel must be instructed NOT to wash the engine compartment of vehicles equipped with a 3.0L
engine.
^
Should it become necessary to wash the engine, the throttle cable must be disconnected at the throttle body end and pointed straight
downward to assure that no water enters the cable.
^
Customers of vehicles with 3.0L engines should be advised not to wash their engine compartments.
^
Any customers reportin vehicles with this condition should have their vehicle's throttle cable replaced.
Any questions regarding this matter should be directed to your zone office.
