Caravan V6-181 3.0L SOHC VIN 3 FI (1987)
5. Pry off wiring trough from steering column, then remove washer/wiper switch cover attaching bolts and rotate cover upward.
6. Disconnect washer/wiper switch electrical connector, then the intermittent wipe switch and speed control electrical connectors if equipped.
7. Place ignition in "Off" position and turn steering wheel so access hole in hub area is at 9 o'clock position. Using screwdriver, loosen turn signal
lever screw through this access hole. Use tape to secure dimmer switch rod in place.
8. Remove washer/wiper assembly.
9. Pull hider up control lever, then remove two control lever sleeve to washer/wiper switch attaching screws.
10.
Remove washer/wiper switch control knob from end of control lever.
11.
Rotate control lever shaft clockwise and pull shaft straight out of switch.
12.
Reverse procedure to install.
Lock plate removal. Models w/tilt column
Tilt Column
1. Remove steering wheel. Refer to "Steering Wheel, Replace" procedure.
2. Remove steering column cover, silencer and lower reinforcement.
3. Pry off wiring trough from steering column, then remove plastic cover from lock plate, if equipped.
4. Depress lock plate using tool No. C-4156 and pry retaining ring out of groove with screwdriver. Full load of upper bearing spring should not be
relieved. If full load is relieved, retaining ring will turn too easily, making removal more difficult.
5. Remove lock plate, cancelling cam and upper bearing spring, then remove switch lever actuator attaching screw and lever.
6. Push in hazard warning knob, then remove by turning knob counterclockwise.
7. Disconnect washer/wiper switch electrical connector, then the intermittent wipe switch and speed control electrical connectors if equipped.
8. Remove three turn signal switch attaching screws, then place selector lever in "1" position. Wrap a piece of tape around electrical connector and
wires to prevent snagging during switch removal.
9. Remove turn signal switch and wiring, then the ignition key lamp.
10.
Position ignition lock cylinder in the Lock position, then insert a small diameter screwdriver into lock cylinder release holes and push inward until
spring loaded lock cylinder retainers release.
11.
Remove buzzer/chime switch by inserting a bent piece of stiff wire into the exposed loop of the switch and pull straight out.Use caution not to
drop switch into steering column.
12.
Remove three switch housing cover attaching screws, then the housing cover.
13.
Remove washer/wiper switch pivot pin using a suitable punch, then remove washer/wiper switch assembly.
14.
Pull hider up control lever, then remove control lever sleeve to washer/wiper switch attaching screws. Use tape to secure dimmer switch rod in
place.
15.
Remove washer/wiper switch control knob from end of control lever.
16.
Rotate control lever shaft clockwise and pull shaft straight out of switch.
17.
Reverse procedure to install.
REAR
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove headlight and accessory switch trim bezel.
3. Remove four switch plate to lower panel attaching screws.
4. Pull switch assembly rearward, then disconnect switch electrical connectors.
5. Remove switch lamp assembly attaching screw.
6. Remove two switch to switch plate assembly attaching screws, then the switch.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
