SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
On some of the listed models equipped with fabric door trim panels, the front door trim panel bolster may appear prematurely worn and discolored. This
condition is caused by the driver/passenger resting their arm on the upper portion of the cloth bolster. The discolored or worn appearance is caused by
the cloth nap not recovering on its own after being crushed by the driver/passenger's elbow.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This procedure provides a method for raising the nap on the door panel to improve the appearance of the door panel.
1.
Clean the trim panel bolster as necessary using a non-flammable fabric cleaner.
2.
Apply moderate heat using a 1500 watt heat gun to the area appearing discolored or prematurely worn.
CAUTION: DO NOT HOLD THE HEAT GUN OVER ONE SPOT FOR TOO LONG A PERIOD. SCORCHING OF THE TRIM PANEL
MAY RESULT.
3.
Brush the area with a light clear bristle brush. Brush the area lightly in an upward and side-to-side motion until the area appears the same as the
rest of the bolster.
