Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair
Rocker Arms & Shafts Replacement

1.

Remove intake manifold as described under INTAKE & EXHAUST MANIFOLD.

2.

Disconnect spark plug wires.

3.

Disconnect closed ventilation and evaporation control systems from cylinder head cover.

4.

Remove cylinder head cover and gasket.

5.

Remove four rocker shaft bolts and retainers.

6.

Remove rocker arm and shaft assembly.

7.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: 
a.

Ensure steel retainer are used with each bolt.

b.

Torque rocker arm bolts to 250 inch lbs. Rocker arm shaft should be tightened slowly, starting with center bolts. Allow 20 minutes
tappet bleed down time after installation of rocker shafts before engine operation.
