Power Transfer Unit Leakage - Right Front C/V Assembly

VOYAGER/GRAND VOYAGER/TOWN & COUNTRY

DISCUSSION:

Vehicles that exhibit repetitive fluid leakage at the right front half shaft seal, may be the result of incorrect machining on the seal journals.

The right front half shaft on the AWD vehicles have two (2) machined seal journals as shown in Figure 1. Journal no. 1 has one (1) seal, while journal
no. 2 has two
(2)

seals.

If replacement of the power transfer unit seal assemblies results in repetitive leakage, replacement of the right inner CV joint and boot package
(PN4641240) will be required. Refer to the 1991 Service Manual, Publication # 81-370-1105, for removal and installation procedures.
