Improved Rear Wiper Arm and Blade Assembly

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The rear wiper blade does not wipe the liftgate glass clean through the full range of travel. A revised wiper arm and blade assembly has been developed.
The revised wiper arm and blade assembly has an additional washer nozzle that helps to distribute the washer fluid over a larger area improving the
cleaning action of the wiper blade. The individual components of the arm and blade assembly cannot be installed on 1991-1993 model arm and/or blade
assemblies. However, the complete arm and blade assemblies are interchangeable.
DIAGNOSIS:
Operate the rear washer and view the cleaning action (contact pattern) of the blade. If the blade does not clean the window through the full range of
travel, perform the repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing a revised rear wiper arm and blade assembly.
1.
Using the procedure outlined on Page 8K-1 of the 1993 Front Wheel Drive All Wheel Drive Van/Wagon Service Manual (Publication No.
81-370-3105), remove the rear wiper arm/blade assembly from the wiper motor shaft.
NOTE:
ON SOME VEHICLES THE WIPER ARM MAY NOT COME OFF THE SHAFT EASILY. IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO DRILL A 3/16" HOLE IN
THE CENTER OF WIPER ARM CAP (IN LINE WITH THE CENTERLINE OF THE WIPER MOTOR SHAFT) AND THREAD/TIGHTEN A 1/4"
SHEETMETAL SCREW INTO THE HOLE TO HELP FORCE THE ARM OFF THE WIPER MOTOR SHAFT.
2.
Disconnect the washer hose from the nipple on the liftgate and discard the rear wiper arm/blade assembly.
3.
Wipe a small amount of Mopar Multi-Purpose Grease (P/N 4318063) on the splines of the wiper motor shaft.
4.
Reverse the previous steps to install the revised wiper arm/blade assembly. Refer to Page 8K-11 of the 1993 Front Wheel Drive All Wheel Drive
Van/Wagon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-3105) for proper adjustment of the rear wiper arm.
