MAP Sensor Fault Codes 2.5L Engine

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The "Check Engine" lamp comes on and "MAP Voltage Too High" and/or "MAP Slow To Change" fault(s) can be read on the DRB II Scan Tool. This
may occur during a long idle with the air conditioning on. The "Check Engine" lamp goes out when the ignition is turned off and will not illuminate
again until the fault condition is again experienced.
DIAGNOSIS:
1.
Using a DRB II Scan Tool, check vehicle on board diagnostics for a "MAP voltage too high" and/or "MAP slow to change" fault code(s).
2.
Visually inspect the MAP sensor hose and wiring to ensure proper installation.
3.
Perform the applicable tests in the appropriate diagnostics manual to verify the MAP sensor is operating correctly.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing a jumper harness containing a diode at the MAP sensor to protect the sensor against an intermittent electrical transient.
Do not perform this repair before completing the diagnostic procedure above.
1.
Disconnect the wiring harness connector at the MAP sensor.
2.
Install the jumper harness between the MAP sensor and the vehicle wiring harness.
3.
Secure the harnesses, using the tie wraps, to the headlamp and dash harness.
4.
Using the DRB II, erase the stored fault codes and perform the applicable verification tests to ensure the jumper harness has repaired the
condition.
