Driver/Vehicle Information Display: Description and Operation
Electronic Vehicle Information Center - Description

DESCRIPTION

The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) features a driver-interactive display. The display is located in the upper part of the instrument cluster
between the speedometer and tachometer. This system conveniently allows the driver to select a variety of useful information by pressing the switches
mounted on the steering wheel. The EVIC displays information related to the following:

System Status

Vehicle information warning message displays

Tire Pressure Monitor System - If Equipped

-

Personal Settings (customer programmable features)

-

Compass display

-

Outside temperature display

-

Trip computer functions

-

UConnect(TM) hands-free communication system displays - If Equipped

Navigation system screens - If Equipped

Audio mode display

The EVIC system is comprised of several different components. Those components are:

Instrument Cluster

-

Steering Wheel Switches

-

Ambient Temperature Sensor

-

Electronic Overhead Module

-

Controller Area Network (CAN) Data Bus

-

Local Interface Network (LIN) Data Bus

The EVIC display is part of the Instrument Cluster assembly and is not serviced as a separate component. If the display is inoperative the complete
Instrument Cluster assembly must be replaced, See: Instrument Cluster / Carrier/Service and Repair/Instrument Cluster - Removal. If the steering wheel
switches are inoperative and require replacement, See: Accessories and Optional Equipment/Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc/Radio/Stereo/Remote
Switch/Service and Repair/Remote Radio Switches - Removal  for the appropriate procedure. If the compass position sensor (Electronic Overhead
