Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTION
The purge control solenoid valve is an electromechanical, vacuum switching valve.
OPERATION
The evaporative emission purge solenoid is an ON-OFF type of one which controls introduction of purge air from the canister into the intake
manifold plenum.
The battery power is supplied to the evaporative emission purge solenoid through the Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) relay. When the engine
control module turns ON the power transistor in the module, current flows to the coil, introducing purge air.
