BEARING REPLACEMENT

1. Attach tools as shown onto knuckle and hub.
2. Secure knuckle assembly in a vise.

3. Tighten nut and remove hub from knuckle.
4. Crush oil seal in two places (opposite each other) so that tabs of puller tool will be caught on the outside bearing inner race.
5. Using a suitable puller, remove outside bearing inner race from hub.
6. Remove oil seal (hub side) from hub.
7. Remove brake disc from hub.
8. Remove oil seal (drive axle side) from knuckle.
9. Remove snap ring from knuckle.

10. Remove bearing.
11. Coat knuckle and bearing contact surfaces with suitable grease.
12. Using a suitable tool, press in the bearing.
13. Install snap ring, then drive oil seal (hub side) into knuckle by using tools C-4171 and C-3972-A until seal is flush with knuckle end surface.
14. Coat oil seal with suitable grease.
15. Mount hub onto knuckle. Torque hub to knuckle to 145-188 ft. lbs.
16. Rotate the hub to seat the bearing.
17. Using a suitable torque wrench, measure turning torque. Turning torque should be 15.6 inch lbs. or less.
18. If turning torque is zero, measure hub axial play using a dial indicator. Axial play should be 0.008 inch. If turning torque and axial play are not as

specified, repeat steps 1 through 17.

19. Remove tools from hub or knuckle assembly.
20. Drive oil seal (drive axle side) into the knuckle until it contacts snap ring.
21. Coat seal lip with suitable grease.
22. Torque knuckle mount attaching bolt to 54-65 ft. lbs.
