SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Whistling sound from exhaust system during medium to heavy acceleration.
DIAGNOSIS
Whistle will be present from 1500-2500 rpm while the vehicle is accelerated, or may be reproduced with the vehicle at rest, when a load is applied to the
engine with the powertrain.

USE THIS MUFFLER ONLY IF REPLACING PN MB577083
REPAIR PROCEDURE
This repair involves the replacement of the existing muffler with one which has been revised to ensure greater reliability of the internal baffles in the
muffler.
1.
Remove the muffler to front exhaust pipe connecting bolts.
2.
Remove the hanger attaching bolts.
3.
Temporarily install the main muffler assembly, checking to be sure there is no interference between the pipes and any other parts.
4.
Torque the muffler connecting bolts to 15-22 ft.lbs. and the hanger bolts to 7-11 ft.lbs. Be sure there is no contact with the chassis at any place and
no hangers are twisted.
