Checking For Breakover

Operate the throttle from the accelerator pedal and check for throttle lever breakover in both the idle and full positions.

START the vehicle and check that the engine low speed rpm is 750 rpm for manual transmission and 700 rpm for automatic transmission. Check
the idle speed with the air conditioning ON and the transmission in drive (automatic transmission). Make sure that the parking brake is set.

If the idle speed is within specifications, the throttle linkage adjustment is completed. If the engine will not achieve the full throttle limit (between
2825 and 2925 rpm), and the low pressure fuel system and injectors are working properly, remove the injection pump for service.
