The charcoal canister purge control solenoid, Fig. 9, is operated by the SMEC. When engine temperature is below 145 degrees F., the SMEC
completes the purge solenoid ground circuit, the solenoid is energized and purge vacuum is prevented from being applied to the canister. When engine
temperature is above 145 degrees F., the solenoid is de-energized and purge vacuum is applied from the port on the throttle body.
