California Emissions Recall # 588 -- EGR Backpressure Transducer and Ignition Timing
MODELS:
1990 Model Year Dodge Ram Pickup and Ramcharger (AD-Body); and Ram Van/Wagon (AB-Body) Vehicles Equipped With a 5.2L or 5.9L Engine
and California Emission Control System
Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) levels for the listed model vehicles may exceed the limits allowed by California Air Resources Board (CARB) emission
standards. To correct the condition the EGR backpressure transducer must be replaced and the ignition timing must be reset.
Dealer Information
Important:
This recall is subject to the State of California Registration Renewal/Emissions Recall Enforcement Program. Involved vehicles must have the recall
service completed before registration renewal.
The servicing dealer must provide a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form (Form No. 81-016-1O53) to each owner upon completion of the
recall service, for use as proof In renewal of the vehicle registration. Blank forms have been supplied separately to all California dealers for this purpose.

DEALER NOTIFICATION & VEHICLE LIST
Involved dealers:
Each dealer to whom involved vehicles were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same street address) will receive a copy of this dealer recall
notification letter and a list of the involved vehicles by first class mail.
The Vehicle List is arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer
reference in arranging for service of involved vehicles as necessary.
All other California Dealers:
Each California Dodge dealer who does not receive a Vehicle List will receive a copy of this dealer recall notification letter by firest class mail.
DIAL SYSTEM FUNCTION 70
All involved vehicles will be entered to DIAL System Function 70 at the time of recall implementation for dealer inquiry by VIN as needed.
RECALL COMPLETION LABEL REQUIREMENT
There is a California Air Resources Board requirement to affix a label to the vehicle to certify that the emissions recall was completed. A label is
included in each emissions service parts package. Refer to the Service Procedure of this bulletin for application instructions.
OWNER NOTIFICATION AND SERVICE SCHEDULING
All involved vehicle owners known to Chrysler are being notified of the service requirement by first class mail. They are requested to schedule
appointments for the service with their dealers at the earliest possible date. A copy of the owner notification letter is included with this bulletin. The
involved vehicle and recall are identified on the form for owner or dealer reference as needed.

Important:
Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same street address), will receive, and be billed for,
enough Emission Service Packages, Recall PN C3905880, to service 25% of these vehicles. Additional parts may be ordered by all dealers, as
needed, to support customer demand.
