Torsion Bar: Service and Repair

1.
Remove upper control arm rebound bumper.
2.
Raise and support front of vehicle with front suspension in full rebound.
3.
Loosen rear torsion bar anchor adjusting bolt to unload suspension.
4.
Remove anchor adjusting bolt from swivel, then the torsion bar and anchor as an assembly.
5.
Separate torsion bar from anchor and bearing.
6.
Clean all parts as necessary, then inspect torsion bar adjusting bolt and swivel for signs of corrosion or other damage. Replace as necessary.
7.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a.
Torque upper control arm rebound bumper attaching screws to 200 inch lbs.
b.
Lower vehicle to ground, then adjust torsion bars to set ride height. Refer to Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Adjustments.
