Dakota 2WD L4-153 2.5L VIN K FI (1989)
Replace all incorrect bolts (no orange paint) and tighten to 70 ft.lbs. (95 N-m).
Do not disturb any of the existing correct bolts.

Check the clutch disc facings for evidence of oil contamination. If facings are oil contaminated, order an appropriate new disc assembly and
replace.
Note:
Wipe inside of clutch housing and friction surfaces of the flywheel and pressure plate with a suitable solvent to remove oil/grease
residue.

Follow the procedures in the appropriate Service Manual to reinstall clutch and transaxle/transmission.
Note:
Be sure to install clutch cover in the previously marked coverto-flywheel position. Then tighten a few turns at a time, in a cross pattern
sequence to prevent distortion of the clutch cover. Tighten to 250 in.lbs. (28 N-m).
Completion Reporting and Reimbursement
Claims must be submitted by DIAL dealers on the DIAL System. Non DIAL dealers may submit WROs. Claims submitted will be used by Chrysler to
record recall service completions and provide dealer payments.
Enter only one VIN per claim on a WRO. Fill in the labor operation number and time allowance and write on the WRO "Customer Satisfaction
Notification #445 -- Flywheel Attachment Bolts." Do not enter other service claims on the same WRO.

Include the cost of any replacement bolts and (if applicable) clutch disc assembly in your claim. A dealer allowance will be paid for parts purchased.

This service requirement applies only to the recently built 1989 model
FWD cars and Dakota trucks listed by model and Month-Day-Hour (MDH) build period on the enclosed dealer notificaton letter.

The service must be coompleted on involved vehicles in dealer stock before retail delivery.

Also, contact owners of any involved vehicles which have already been delivered and schedule appointmenst for the service without delay.
There will be no direct mailing from Chrysler to owners at this time because of a lack of owner names and addresses in our records, due to recent
shipment of involved vehicles.
