Front Crankshaft Seal: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTION
Both the crankshaft front seal and rear main seal are a one piece Viton seal with a steel housing. The front seal is located in the engine front cover. The
rear seal is located in a bore at the rear of the engine block, the crankshaft protrudes through the rear main seal.
OPERATION
The crankshaft seals prevent oil from leaking from around the crankshaft, either from the rear of the engine or from the engine front cover.
