Dakota 2WD V6-239 3.9L (1987)
INSTALLATION
1. Install bearing into axle housing using tool No. C-4198 and handle C-4171. Drive bearing until fully seated in housing bore. Ensure bearing is
driven straight in and is not cocked.
2. Install bearing seal using tool C-4203 and handle C-4171. Drive seal in until tool bottoms against axle housing flange face.
3. Lubricate bearing and seal lip, then slide axle shaft into housing, using care not to damage seal lips with axle splines.
4. Install axle shaft C-lock, then pull back on axle to lock in place.
5. Install differential shaft through case and pinions. Align hole in shaft with lock screw hole, then install lock screw and torque to 100 inch lbs.
6. Install rear differential cover, then fill unit with gear oil.
