Dakota 2WD V6-239 3.9L Magnum (1996)
Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair
1. Raise and support vehicle, then position drain pan under switch.
2. Disconnect switch wires and remove switch from case.
3. Ensure switch operating lever fingers center in case opening for switch when shift lever is in Park and Neutral positions.
4. Install switch and new seal. Torque switch to 25 ft. lbs.
5. Connect switch wires, lower vehicle and check transmission fluid.
