Differential Axle Housing: Service and Repair
It is not necessary to remove complete axle for routine service.
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove skid plate.
2. Remove CV drive shaft as outlined under Drive Axles.../ Axle Shaft Assembly, Constant Velocity Type/ CV Joint Service.
3. Remove front driveshaft.

4. Support axle housing assembly with suitable jack, then remove attaching bolts and lower axle housing assembly from vehicle.
