Starter Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

1.

Remove starter assembly from vehicle.

2.

Disconnect field coil wire from field coil terminal.

3.

Check for continuity between solenoid terminal and field coil terminal. Continuity should exist.

4.

Check for continuity between solenoid terminal and solenoid housing. Continuity should exist.

5.

If there is no continuity in either step 3 or 4, solenoid has an open circuit and must be replaced.
