Durango 2WD V8-5.7L Hybrid (2009)
NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace
the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets could result in a refrigerant system leak.
NOTE: The A/C suction line on 5.7L engines is serviced in two sections.
FRONT SECTION
NOTE: 5.7L gas only engine shown. 5.7L HEV engine similar.
1. Position the front section of the A/C suction line (4) into the engine compartment.
2. Remove the tape or plugs from the open suction line fittings.
3. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it and a new gasket onto the suction line fitting. Use only the specified
O-ring as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the
vehicle.
4. Connect the front section of the A/C suction line to the rear section of the A/C suction line (2) and install the retaining nut (1). Tighten the nut to
23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
5. On 5.7L gas only model, install the nut (5) that secures the front section of the A/C suction line to the bracket (3) located at the front of the engine.
Tighten the nut securely.

6. Raise and support the vehicle.
7. Remove the tape or plugs from the open suction line fitting and the compressor port.
8. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it and a new gasket onto the suction line fitting. Use only the specified
O-ring as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the
vehicle.
9. Install the A/C suction line (2) onto the A/C compressor (5).
10. Install the nut (3) that secures the A/C suction line to the A/C compressor. Tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
