Axle Shaft: Service and Repair
Constant Velocity Type Axle Shaft Assembly
Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
Cotter Pin, Nut Lock & Spring Washer Removal
1. Remove the cotter pin, nut lock, and spring washer from the stub shaft.
Loosening Wheel Hub Nut
2. Loosen the lug nuts and hub nut while the vehicle is on the surface with the brakes applied.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Remove the skid plate, if equipped.
Hub Nut & Washer
5. Remove the hub nut and washer from the stub shaft.
6. Remove the wheel and tire.
7. Loosen the bolts that attach the inner C/V joint to the axle shaft.
8. Remove the brake caliper and rotor. Refer to Brakes, for proper procedures.
