REPAIR PROCEDURE

If the above conditions exist, the traveler connector must be wrapped with electrical tape to insulate it against static discharge. A new ground wire must
be installed to ground the static electricity. The procedure is as follows:

1.

Remove the steering column cover and dress-up panel a then remove the traveler. Unhook the electrical connector from the back of the traveler.

2.

Apply at least two full wraps of vinyl electrical tape around the electrical connector which hooks up to the traveler. The tape must cover the
terminal tang slots in the connector (see Illustration 2).

CAUTION: MUST BE VINYL TAPE -- USE OF CLOTH ELECTRICAL TAPE WILL NOT ADEQUATELY INSULATE CONNECTOR.

3.

Plug the tape-covered connector back into the traveler.

4.

Cut a 13-inch piece of 14 gauge (or larger) insulated stranded wire. Using rosin core solder, attach a round eyelet connector, PN 4209499, to each
end of the wire.
