Heater Core: Description and Operation
Front Heater Core - Description
DESCRIPTION
NOTE: LHD model shown. RHD model similar.
The heater core for the front heating-A/C system is located in the HVAC housing, behind the instrument panel. It is a heat exchanger made of rows of
tubes and fins (2). The heater core tubes (4) are attached to the side of the heater core by metal retaining clips (3) and O-ring seals. Foam seals (1) assure
that all the air flowing through the HVAC housing is directed through the heater core. The heater core is secured to the HVAC air distribution housing by
a plastic cover.
The heater core tubes are not serviced separately from the heater core. The HVAC housing must be removed from the vehicle to service the heater core.
