7. Engage each of the remaining airbag mounting tabs forward of the inflator over the appropriate weld studs on the inner roof side rail and loosely
secure with nuts.
8. Engage the two plastic push-in retainers (3) that secure the front of the side curtain airbag (4) to the inner A-pillar (1).
9. Engage the metal hook (2) that secures the side curtain airbag front tether to the inner A-pillar near the belt line.
10. Engage the plastic push-in retainer (5) that secures the front tether to the inner A-pillar. Both the hook and the push-in plastic retainer are secured
in the same slotted hole of the A-pillar, but the hook MUST be installed prior to the retainer.
11. Engage each of the remaining airbag mounting tabs rearward of the inflator over the appropriate weld studs on the inner roof side rail and loosely
secure with nuts.
12. Engage the two plastic push-in retainers that secure the rear of the side curtain airbag to the inner D-pillar.
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, the rear tether MUST be routed over the inboard facing side of the quarter glass motor and
NOT between the inner D-pillar and the outboard facing side of the motor. Failure to observe this warning could result in improper side
curtain airbag deployment resulting in occupant injuries.
13. Working from back to front, tighten each of the eight nuts onto the weld studs to secure the side curtain airbag onto the inner roof side rail and the
inflator mounting bracket. Tighten the nuts to 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.).
14. Reinstall the headliner into the vehicle.See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Headliner - Installation.
WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE. PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH MAY RESULT IF THE

Driver Airbag - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before
attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing
further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental
airbag deployment.
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury when removing a deployed airbag, rubber gloves, eye protection, and a long-sleeved shirt should
be worn. There may be deposits on the airbag cushion and other interior surfaces. In large doses, these deposits may cause irritation to the skin
and eyes.
NOTE: The following procedure is for replacement of an ineffective or damaged driver airbag. If the airbag is ineffective or damaged, but not
deployed, review the recommended procedures for handling non-deployed supplemental restraints. See: Service and Repair. If the driver
airbag has been deployed, review the recommended procedures for service after a supplemental restraint deployment before removing the
