Blend Door Actuator - Removal
Front Controls
REMOVAL
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or
service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before
performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may
result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE: The single zone heating-A/C system is equipped with a single blend door actuator. The dual zone system has two blend door actuators,
one for the driver side blend-air door and one for the passenger side blend-air door.
NOTE: LHD model shown in illustrations. RHD model similar.
SINGLE ZONE/DUAL ZONE DRIVER SIDE
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the driver side knee blocker.
3. Remove the two screws (1) that secure the blend door actuator (3) to the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing (4) and remove the
actuator from the housing.
4. Disengage the red locking tab and disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the blend door actuator and remove the actuator from the
vehicle.
DUAL ZONE PASSENGER SIDE
NOTE: Illustration shown with air inlet housing removed for clarity.
5. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
6. If equipped, remove the silencer from underneath the passenger side of the instrument panel.
7. Reach up between the HVAC air inlet housing and the HVAC air distribution housing and remove the two screws (1) that secure the blend door
actuator (2) to the bracket located on the passenger side of the air distribution housing (3) and remove the actuator from the bracket.
8. Disengage the red locking tab and disconnect the wire harness (4) from the blend door actuator and remove the actuator from the vehicle.
