DESCRIPTION
Instrument Cluster With Compass And Temperature Display
The Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) and Temperature Display functions are available on the mid level instrument cluster. The compass and
temperature readout is displayed in the lower left part of the instrument cluster (28) below the fuel (1) and engine coolant temperature (4) gauges. The
display shows the current ambient temperature and one of eight compass readings identifying which direction the vehicle is facing. Pressing and holding
the CMTC Reset button (29) allows setting of the variance zone and manual calibration of the compass. This button also is used to disable the vehicle
Park Assist feature.
The display in the lower right part of the instrument cluster (13) below the tachometer (10) shows the vehicle odometer related functions. These
functions include Trip Odometer (ODO), Trip A and Trip B readouts. The instrument cluster right pushbutton (14) can be used to scroll through the
different odometer functions.See: Instrument Cluster / Carrier/Description and Operation/Instrument Cluster/Description for additional information on
the instrument cluster and related functions.
The Compass Temperature Display system is comprised of several different components. Those components are:
-
Instrument Cluster (sometimes referred to as Cab Compartment Node)
-
Ambient Temperature Sensor
-
Remote Compass Module (RCM)
-
Controller Area Network (CAN) Data Bus
-
Local Interface Network (LIN) Data Bus
-
Totally Integrated Power Module
The compass temperature display and the instrument cluster button are part of the Instrument Cluster assembly and cannot be serviced as separate
components. If the display or button are inoperative the complete Instrument Cluster assembly must be replaced,See: Instrument Cluster / Carrier/Service
and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Instrument Cluster - Removal.
