NOTE:
The entire seat back assembly must be ordered on vehicles equipped with side air bags.

If no holes or discoloration due to excessive heat was found on either front seat, continue with Step 2 of this procedure.

Place both front seats in the full forward and full up position. The seat back must be in the full upright position.
3.
Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with side airbags, the battery must be disconnected for two minutes before disconnecting any wiring connectors.
4.
Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
5.
Remove the four seat attachment nuts from each front seat (Figure 1).
6.
Lower the vehicle.
7.
Disconnect the seat wiring harness connectors located under the seat.
8.
With the help of an assistant, remove the front seats from the vehicle.
NOTE:
Perform all seat repairs on a clean work surface.
9.
Remove the rear seat back panel.
10.
Unhook the J-strip retainer for the rear carpet cover on the seat cushion to access the side panel screws.
11.
Remove the right and left side covers from the seat cushion.
12.
Carefully remove and save the seat heater control module located on the bottom of the seat cushion pan.
13.
Disconnect the three connectors at the seat module.
