Daytime Running Lamp Control Unit: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATION - CANADA
The head-lamps operate, at reduced intensity, when the ignition switch is in the RUN position and the parking brake switch is OPEN.
Power for the DRL is provided from two sources. One is a constant battery feed from the Power Distribution Center (PDC). The A3 circuit, which
is protected by a 30 amp fuse in cavity H, from the PDC feeds a 10 amp fuse located in the PDC cavity F2. From the fuse, circuit L92 supplies the
direct battery voltage to the DRL module.
The second feed is from the F20 circuit. This circuit is HOT in the RUN position only. Power for the F20 circuit is supplied by circuit A22 which
connects to the ignition switch. The F20 circuit is protected by a 10 amp fuse located in cavity 6 of the junction block.
Circuit G9 is the input to the DRL module on parking brake lever position. The G9 circuit connects from the DRL module to the parking brake
switch. This circuit is also splices to the instrument cluster.
From the DRL module, circuit L43 powers the left headlamp and circuit L34 powers the right headlamp.
Ground for the DRL module is supplied on circuit Z1 and terminates at the right front frame rail.
