Monaco V6-182 3.0L SOHC (1990)
Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Disconnect EGR tube from right side exhaust manifold.
3.
Raise and support vehicle.
4.
Disconnect catalytic converter from Y-pipe by removing attaching nuts. Remove converter by pulling back and out of hanger.
5.
Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector.
6.
Remove attaching nuts securing Y-pipe to transmission crossmember.
7.
Remove attaching nuts securing Y-pipe to exhaust manifolds. Position Y-pipe back and away from exhaust manifolds.
8.
If right side manifold is to be removed, proceed as follows:
a. Remove dipstick tube attaching nut from exhaust manifold.
b. Remove dipstick tube.
c. Remove remaining exhaust manifold attaching nuts.
d. Remove manifold and gasket.
9.
If left side manifold is to be removed, proceed as follows:
a. Remove hot air tube heat stove.
b. Disconnect starter wires and ground cable.
c. Remove lower exhaust manifold attaching nuts and the starter heat shield.
d. Remove remaining exhaust manifold attaching nuts.
e. Remove manifold and gasket.
10.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Exhaust manifold gaskets have a ring on one side. Install gaskets with ring toward cylinder head and tabs toward oil pan.
b. Tighten attaching nuts and bolts to specifications.
