NOTE:
This fix is applicable only to vehicles built before November 22, 1982 (MDH 11-22-XX).
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove carburetor from engine.
2.
Disconnect choke operating rod lower end from the electric choke housing assembly.
3.
Loosen the three screws holding electric choke housing assembly to the carburetor main body.
4.
Remove electric choke housing assembly taking care to disconnect the fast idle link to the throttle lever.
5.
Install field fix Electric Choke Housing PN 4293823 making sure the fast idle link has been installed correctly. Tighten three (3) screws held in
choke housing assembly.
6.
Reinstall choke operating rod into rod retainer on fast idle cam lever.
7.
Check vacuum kick adjustment. Reset to specification (0.065"). Also check and reset, if necessary, hot fast idle speed to specification (1500 rpm).
8.
Remove and discard original ESA/EFC coolant switch and install field fix Coolant Switch PN 4145716, which is blue in color.
