DISCUSSION:
The drivers seat belt is equipped with a web sensitivity feature. This feature locks the retractor when the webbing is extracted above a certain rate. This is
in addition to the standard tilt-lock and acceleration locking mechanisms.
If a customer states that the drivers seat belt locks up when extracting the webbing to put the seat belt on, it may be due to the web sensitivity feature. To
determine if web sensitivity causes the seat belt lock-up complaint, release the belt and extract the webbing at a slower rate. If the seat belt functions
normally, the lock up was the result of the web sensitivity feature. If the seat belt still locks up, further diagnosis is required.
