Install the side fuel cylinder shield and then tighten the 12 torx head bolts to 250 in-lbs (28 N.m) and tighten the 2 hex head bolts to 100 in-lbs (11
N.m) (Figure 10).

Remove the manual shut-off valve handle (red handle) set screw and apply Mopar Lock and Seal (PN 04318031) or equivalent to the threads.
Install the manual shut-off valve handle (Figure 9). Tighten the allen head set screw to 15 in-lbs (1.7 Nm).

Turn the manual shut-off valve handle 1/4 turn to the OPEN position (handle should be parallel with fuel cylinders).

Lower the vehicle

Connect the negative battery cable.

Start the engine and allow to run for about 10 seconds to purge the air from the fuel rail, then turn the engine off.

Check the low pressure fuel line to low-pressure shut-off solenoid connection for leaks using a soapy water solution. Tighten the fuel line
connection as necessary.

Install the air cleaner assembly.
42.
Install the engine cover.

INBOARD FUEL CYLINDER STRAPS
Dear Dodge Ram CNG Van or Wagon Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
DaimlerChrysler Corporation has determined that two defects, which relate to motor vehicle safety, exist in some 1999 Dodge Ram vans and wagons
equipped with a 5.2L Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engine.
The problems are...
The fuel rail crossover hose on your vehicle (identified on the enclosed form) may shrink and leak natural gas if exposed to high operating temperatures.
In addition, incorrect mounting straps may have been installed on the driver's side inboard CNG fuel cylinder of your vehicle. This may allow excessive
fuel cylinder movement and result in natural gas leakage. Natural gas leakage in the presence of an ignition source could be explosive and/or result in a
fire.
What DaimlerChrysler and your dealer will do...
DaimlerChrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will replace the fuel rail assembly and the inboard side
fuel cylinder straps. The work will take about two hours to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments
are scheduled and processed.

your appointment.

Bring the enclosed Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. It identifies the required service to the dealer.
