Washer Fluid Level Switch: Description and Operation
Washer Fluid Level Switch - Description
DESCRIPTION
The washer fluid level switch (3) is a two-pin conductivity sensor with no moving parts mounted on the rearward facing side of the washer reservoir
adjacent to the washer pump/motor unit in the engine compartment. Only the molded plastic switch mounting flange and the integral connector
receptacle (4) are visible when the switch is installed in the reservoir. A short nipple formation (1) extends from the inner surface of the switch mounting
flange, and a barb on the nipple is pressed through a rubber grommet seal installed in the mounting hole of the reservoir. Two over-molded pins or
electrodes (2) extend from the back of the nipple formation.
The washer fluid level switch cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged, the switch must be replaced.
