Wheel Bearings Adjust

2 Wheel Drive

RWD Models

Install hub bearings on spindle, then install hub nut and torque to 22 ft. lbs to seat bearings. Loosen hub nut, then torque nut to 6 ft-lbs. Install nut
retainer cap and cotter pin. If cotter pin holes are not aligned, loosen nut to align holes. The nut may be loosened to a maximum of 30~ to align cotter pin
holes. Check to ensure hub assembly rotates freely without play.

4WD Models

1.

Using locknut adjusting tool No. MB990954, or equivalent torque bearing locknut to 94 - 145 ft-lbs.

Loosen Locknut, then retorque to 18 ft-lbs.

Loosen locknut 30-40~ to adjust front hub turning resistance of 2.6-11.3 inch lbs. If specified resistance cannot be met, bearing may be
incorrectly installed. Check then reading just wheel bearing.

4 Wheel Drive
