Brake Pad: Service and Repair
Kelsey-Hayes Single Pin Floating Caliper
REMOVAL
1. Remove brake fluid until reservoir is half full.
2. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove caliper guide pin and anti-rattle clips.
4. Remove caliper from disc by sliding caliper assembly out and away from braking disc. Suspend caliper with wire to avoid damaging flexible brake
hose.
5. Remove outboard brake lining, then lift off rotor and remove inboard brake lining.
INSTALLATION
1. Push piston back into cylinder bore with uniform pressure until it is bottomed.
2. Position inboard shoe and lining on adapter, then install rotor.
3. While holding outboard shoe in position on adapter, carefully position caliper over disc brake rotor.
4. Lower caliper over rotor and adapter.
5. Install guide pin through bushing caliper and adapter.
6. Press in on guide pin and thread pin into adapter. Torque pin to 25 - 35 ft. lbs.
7. Install wheel and tire assembly, then lower vehicle.
