Timing Belt Removal and Installation

1.

Remove nuts securing timing belt cover to the cylinder head, Fig. 18.

2.

Remove screws securing the cover to the cylinder head, then remove both halves of the timing belt cover.

3.

Position a suitable jack under engine, then remove righthand engine mount bolt and raise engine slightly.

4.

Loosen timing belt tensioner, then remove timing belt.

5.

Reverse procedure to install. ]On 1983---84 models, torque all attaching hardware to 40 inch lbs.
