Bowl Vent Valve: Description and Operation
4-135 CARBURETED ENGINES
The external bowl vent valve is connected between the carburetor fuel bowl, charcoal canister and air pump discharge line. When the engine is
operating, air pump pressure closes the connection between the charcoal canister and the fuel bowl. When the engine is not operating, air pressure from
the air pump bleeds down, opening the connection between the charcoal canister and fuel bowl, allowing fuel vapors from the bowl to vent to the
canister.
