4-135 ENGINES
1.
On 1983-85 models, disconnect and plug vacuum connectors from Coolant Controlled EGR valve (CCEGR) or Coolant Vacuum Switch Cold
Closed valve (CVSCC).
2.
On all models, disconnect electrical connector at radiator fan, then install jumper wire so fan will run continuously.
3.
Remove PCV valve and allow valve to draw underhood air.
4.
Connect tachometer, then ground carburetor switch with suitable jumper wire.
5.
On 1984-87 models, disconnect oxygen sensor system test connector located on left fender shield, if equipped with 6520 carburetor.
6.
On 1986-87 models, disconnect vacuum kicker control solenoid electrical connector located on the left fender shield.
7.
On all models, start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature, then note engine RPM.
8.
If RPM is not within specifications, turn idle speed adjusting screw until specified speed is obtained, Figs. 1 through 4.
9.
Connect PCV valve, oxygen sensor connector and vacuum connectors, then remove jumper wire and connect fan electrical connector. After step
eight has been completed, idle speed may change slightly. This condition is normal and engine speed should not be readjusted.
