Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove electrical connector from ignition switch.
3.
Place ignition lock in "Lock" position and remove key.
4.
Remove two ignition switch attaching screws and permit switch and pushrod to drop below column jacket.
5.
Rotate the switch 90° for removal of switch from pushrod.
6.
To install, position ignition switch in "Lock" position, second detent from top of switch.
7.
Place switch at right angle to column and insert pushrod.
8.
Align switch on bracket and loosely install screws.
9.
Apply light rearward force to switch, then tighten attaching screws.
10.
Connect ignition switch electrical connector and battery ground cable.
11.
Check for proper operation of switch.
